NICE FRUIT has entered into a joint venture with DEL MONTE PACÍFIC LIMITED, company that is listed on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading and the Philippine Stock Exchange and one of the world’s largest processors of fruit, and FERVILLE LIMITED, a minority financial investor.
NF, DM and FL will have 51%, 35% and 14% shareholdings, respectively, in the joint venture. The joint venture will construct an industrial plant that will utilize the revolutionary technology Nice Frozen Dry (NFD), for fruits including pineapple.
Nice Fruit has developed a technology that fruits, vegetables and produce to be picked at their optimal ripeness and frozen for up to three years while preserving their nutrients, structure, original properties and organoleptic characteristics.
The construction of the Philippine plant is expected to start in the first quarter 2015 and to be operational in the last quarter of the same year. The plant will become Nice Fruit’s pineapple supply center worldwide. It will be located in Bukidnon, in the island of Mindanao surrounded by thousands of hectares of Del Monte’s pineapple plantation. The plant will have an initial production capacity of 1.5 tons per hour.
Nice Fruit foresees the plant to also process world famous Philippine mangoes, an exquisite variety that has only been commercialized in Asian markets until now. Thanks to the Nice Frozen Dry (NFD) technology, Philippine mangoes will hopefully reach all markets worldwide.
